southern parts of Peninsular India, due to their relative
isolation, have to beauty and purity of the rich Dravidian
cultures. A land of vivid colour, palm fringed beaches,
hill stations, pleasure places, spectacular temples, backwater

1. Arrive Delhi |
Arrive
Delhi. Met upon arrival and transfer to hotel for overnight
stay.

2. Delhi - Chennai, flight |
Breakfast
at hotel. Transfer to the airport to board flight for Chennai.
On arrival transfer to your hotel. Day at leisure. Overnight
hotel.

3. Chennai |
Morning
city tour visiting St. George and St.. Mary's Church build in
1653 by the British East India Company. Also visit the Marina
and kapaleeshwara, an ancient Shiva temple. Afternoon at leisure.
Overnight hotel.

4. Chennai - Kancheepuram - Mahabalipuram - Chennai, ( drive
170 kms.) |
This
morning visit Kanchipuram, south-west of Chennai. This is
one of India's holy cities and as the City of a Thousand Temples.
Later visit Mahabalipuram, noted for its Shore Temple and
rock carvings. Return to Chennai for overnight.

5. Chennai - Trichy, flight |
After
breakfast transfer to the airport for your flight to Trichy.
Which means "City of the Three Headed Demon." In the
afternoon visit the Rock Fort Temple which dominates the town..
Overnight at hotel.

6. Trichy |
Today
visit Tanjore which was once the capital for the Chola Kings.
Visit the superb temples at Kumbakonam, Gangakod acholapuram
and Chidambaram. Return to Trichy for overnight.

7. Trichy - Madurai, (drive 142 kms.) |
Today
continue by car to Madurai, which is one of the south's oldest
cities and has been a center of learning and pilgrimage for
many centuries. In the afternoon visit the Shree Menakshi Temple,
in the heart of the old town. The temple is an excellent example
of Dravidian architecture.

At leisure to absorb the atmosphere of this bustling city.

8. Madurai - Kodaikanal, (drive 120 kms.) |
After
breakfast leave by car Kodaikanal, a peaceful backwater hill
station on the southern crest of the Palni hills. Afternon at
leisure in Kodaikanal. Overnight at your hotel.

9. Kodaikanal - Cochin, |
Continue
onto Cochin which is known as the "Venice of the East".
Arrive in the afternoon and proceed to your hotel.

10. Cochin |
Morning
city tour visiting the Dutch Palace and the Jewish Synagogue
build in 1567. Afternoon motor launch cruise on the backwaters
of Cochin. Visiting Bolghatty palace and the Chinese Fishing
Nets.

11. Cochin - Alleppey, (drive 63 kms.) |
Morning
at leisure in Cochin. In the afternoon proceed onto Alleppey.
Overnight at hotel.

12. Alleppey - Kovalam, (drive 170 kms.) |
After
breakfast depart by boat for the backwater cruise to Changanacherry.
The Cruise takes just over 2 hours and this route is among the
most picturesque of the backwaters, passing through many narrow
canals. On arrival at Changancherry proceed by car to the Kovalam
Bech Resort.

At
leisure to relax by the beach. During your stay here you will
visit Cape Comorin, the "Lands End" of India, where
the Indian Ocean, Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal meet.

16. Kovalam - Trivandrum - Delhi, flight |
Transfer
to Trivandrum airport to board flight for Delhi. On arrival
transfer to hotel for ovrnight stay.

17. Delhi - Onward destination |
| Breakfast
at hotel. Combined sightseeing of Old and New Delhi. Transfer
to international airport to board flight for onward journey |
